Special Gifts Ireland is an online marketplace for Irish businesses to list and sell their products directly to consumers around the world. The website and marketing services are operated by Wizzily Limited which is an Irish registered company founded by native Dubliner John Rownan.

Tired of finding mass-produced and impersonal products in shops, John found it difficult to find high quality locally-made gifts which make gifting more meaningful. He saw how some of the best products for gifting in Ireland are made by local artistic and creative people who struggle to sell online and often don’t have their own websites. John set out on a mission to support these small Irish businesses and help people find some of Ireland’s most special gifts.

Our sellers are some of the most creative in Ireland, with stories to tell and immense passion for quality design and craftsmanship. A native Dubliner, John has a creative background and studied ancient languages, art and architecture before embarking on an artistic journey around the world. In 2018 John settled back into Dublin and started to network with many small business owners while developing his knowledge of marketing, technology and the small business world. He has a great love of Irish culture, heritage, art and crafts, but one of his weaknesses was choosing gifts. When he went into department stores he felt most products were not meaningful and felt too fabricated. He loved going to markets and finding quality locally produced items but saw how so many small creative businesses struggle to promote and sell their products online.

John looked at the development of other marketplaces and saw the dropping quality with some being bombarded with imported products. John set out on a mission to create a place for people who like to buy quality Irish products and support small Irish brands, which do not mass-produce abroad. He began preparations for SpecialGifts.ie and launched in October 2023.
